Roles and Permissions

MyEROAD users are assigned roles and permissions, which allow them to see and use different functions.

Roles are independent of Permissions

Roles are generally about access and authority – certain people should have access to certain featuresets or pages/screens.

Permissions are about authority to change. People might have access to a certain function, but might not have the authority to make certain changes.

For example: A Dashcam Fleet Manager might have full access to all Replay and Dashcam device features, but only users with Financial Permission enabled may change their data retention period in the Dashcams featureset.

Some roles have dependencies. For example, to get the Ehubo Admin role a user must also have the Unit Manager role. Users with basic access might be assigned the additional Service role. These dependencies are controlled in the interface so Unit Managers and higher grant appropriate powers within gated hierarchies.

Your EROAD service plan determines access levels to screens and reports. Please contact sales@eroad.co.nz if you wish to request a change of Service Plan.

Permission

Description

Financial

Permits specific users to make financial transactions (purchasing allowances, payment modifications, etc.) through MyEROAD.

Financial Permission is appointed to other qualifying roles by a Client Administrator.

Super Basic User (for assigned vehicles only): Super Basic Users have dot-on-map entry-level access to MyEROAD. For assigned vehicles only.

Inspect Standard User This role has largely read-only access to certain Service screens, with write access for reporting defects.

  • Limited updating for Assets > Repair, Failed DVIR Notifications (Subscription)
Inspect Fleet Operator More managerial control over certain Service screens, but limits the ability to book service appointments.

Service Supplier This role is for suppliers of servicing workshops to process vehicles.

Audit User (USA)

Has limited access to tax reporting for auditing purposes.

RUC User (NZL)

RUC Users may access tax information and associated reporting. For assigned vehicles only.

Group RUC User (NZL)

Otherwise, has same access as RUC User.

Unit Manager (Allows full access for vehicles in assigned fleets - no user management.
The Allow Geofence Access checkbox is enabled by default, and this role may view/edit geofences.
You can disable this checkbox to restrict access by hiding the Geofence tab in the Activity menu.):
