Trip Investigator Example Scenarios

Trip Investigator is designed to help you compare travel routes and provides the tools to look at each vehicle trip or multiple trips in detail. To help you get started, select from the following examples:

 

 

IMPROVE YOUR TRAVEL ROUTES

"As a fleet manager, how can I improve my routes? I want to check that my drivers are following their planned schedules. Are drivers traveling to unexpected places or are there long wait times along certain routes that can be improved?"

Outside of Route Example

    1. Open the Trip Investigator, click to Map view (if required), and select the group and/or specific vehicles to review.
    2. You may want use the Location option, and select a starting and ending location to see if a vehicle is following its predetermined route. Or from Groups & Vehicles, to examine specific branches or instances.

MAP VIEW In the example below, the circled side trip is being investigated. If you hover over a portion of the route, the starting details are displayed and you can quickly analyze if the truck was on track. The corresponding data is highlighted in the Data view.

 VERIFY SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT TRAVEL TIMES

"We have agreed travel time service level agreements with our customers, I need to check that we are meeting them."

SLA Example

    1. Open Trip Investigator, click to Map view.
    2. Under Locations, click to highlight an entry in Start Location. Then click a customer as your End Location. Compare the routes with your daily or weekly schedule.

 MAP VIEW If you hover over a portion of the route, the starting details are displayed. The corresponding data is highlighted in the Data view.

DATA VIEW From the example above, the trip travel time was 22 minutes. If this is a regular route on the schedule, you can decide if the time is normal. Most importantly, if you sent a report to customers, they have verification of the BOL, vehicles, dates and times of each trip.

OUTSIDE OF WORKING HOURS/PERSONAL USE REVIEW

"Are my drivers using vehicles outside of working hours or for personal use? Some of my drivers need reports differentiating business and personal use for tax purposes."

 Outside of Working Hours Example

    1. Open Trip Investigator, click to Map view, and select the driver group and/or specific vehicles to review.
    2. Under Trip Attributes, Show Trips, select Outside These Times
    3. Select your acceptable working days and adjust your working hours from the time settings.

MAP VIEW View the routes that occurred based on hours outside of your settings.

DATA VIEW  Click Data to view the details of each trip not completed within the working hours selected. In the example below, working hours are between 7am - 8pm. The trip highlighted started at 8:30 pm and incurred 3 minutes of driving time outside of working hours.
