Operating Clarity

  1. Start the vehicle. The dashcam Power LED should light within a minute. If not, call your transport company to report and resolve.

Logging on (Driver Logon enabled)

If you previously logged on to this EROAD Clarity, you are still logged on until you log off or another driver logs on.

After ignition-on:

  1. Touch your logon fob to the dashcam’s ‘EROAD’ logo until it chimes.
  2. To log off, touch your fob to the dashcam again until you hear the chime.

Logging off needs vehicle power. Attempting to log off after ignition-off won't work.

EROAD Clarity chimes if the vehicle moves with no driver logged on.

Manually triggering events (All service plans except Locate)

Press the button with the red Record LED to send a 20-second video clip of an important event to your transport company.

EROAD Clarity chimes to confirm activation.

 solid blinking lights

Solid Blue: Power on.

Blinking Green: Busy – Recording resumes on completion.

Red: Recording video.

Blinking Red: Saving and uploading a clip.

Harsh braking, sharp acceleration, and sharp cornering events trigger the dashcam to send a video clip automatically.

Covering the lens in secure areas

Cover the front lens with the red lens cap when entering a secure area, and remove it when you exit.

Maintenance

  1. Clean the Clarity lens when dirty with a soft cloth. Never use sprays or fluids.

  2. Do not adjust or remove the dashcam or its wiring. Alert your company if it needs adjustment, repair, or replacement.

IMPORTANT

Dashcam placement must comply with regulations. If Clarity falls off the windshield, follow your company’s policies related to re-mounting.

Temperature warning

If the cab temperature exceeds 140°F/60°C the dashcam will turn off its LEDs, sound an alert, and temporarily shut down. It should restart after a few minutes, turning the LEDs back on.

Recording options

EROAD Clarity can be configured by your transport company to:

  1. Record video from both cameras, or road-facing only.
  2. Optionally record sound inside the cab.
  3. Disable the manual trigger. (Locate)
  4. Disable audio/video recording completely, but still record location, distance traveled and harsh events. (Locate)

If enabled, audio/video recording only occurs when ignition is on.

Clarity Solo also continuously records location, distance traveled, and driver behavior. Please contact your company to discuss.

IMPORTANT (Video-enabled EROAD Clarity):

Clarity does not show a live feed of you driving, but an approved reviewer at your company can request a video clip of any time segment.

You can also report any time segment to your company within 12 hours of the event so they can manually request and save additional important video clips surrounding it.

Your transport company is required by law to notify you if you are being recorded. Feel free to ask about its policies and related regulations.
