Mobile Apps

EROAD provides apps for Android and Apple mobile device platforms. These apps may be used by independent installers for the safe and confirmed installation of our hardware on a customer's network, or for day-to-day back office tasks, or day-to-day driver/machine operator compliance management.

Typically, EROAD App users need to be enabled in MyEROAD or Core360, and are issued with login names and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) by the company before they can be used.

Often, online or printed material will have a specific link and/or QR code for users to scan and link directly to Google® Play or the Apple® App Store.

Allowing Data

EROAD mobile apps uses information gathered from the mobile device to support automated location, notifications and time stamp accuracy.

But because of privacy and security concerns, the mobile device might not have these features engaged: they might not be enabled by default, or they've been deliberately turned off.

Note: Screenshots and demonstrations in these instructions are made using an iOS device.

The Android operating system has different settings and setting locations depending on the device, and users will have to find appropriate settings to configure.

Features to be enabled

Commonly, these features are located in a Settings/Peferences section of your device's operating system.

Mobile (Cellular) Data for the DEVICE: While EROAD mobile apps can operate over WiFi, cellular data is a more reliable, less-fussy way to maintain connectivity to the Internet. (Because mobile devices are typically designed to make cellular calls it's likely this feature is already on, but it pays to check.)

Mobile (Cellular) Data for the APP: The device might be cell data-enabled, but that doesn't mean all your apps are allowed to use it. Check that the app is able to use cell data.

Geolcocation Services: Some apps needs access to data coming from your GPS chip. Location is usually turned on individually, per app.

Device Alerts: Mobile apps are able to push visible alerts to your device while the app is operating in the background, but this internal setting might not be on by default. Check that the app is able to send notifications to your main screen, and if possible, enable alert sounds.

Device Sound: For notifications, EROAD advises that the sound on the mobile device is turned up.

Caution: If your device goes through a software update, you should always re-check your device and app settings to ensure everything still works as expected.
