Replay clips

Note: Replay will have limited functionality for those Dashcams under the EROAD Clarity Locate service plan.

Replay is your portal for video clips captured by EROAD camera-enabled hardware. Normally these video events are automatically captured depending on detected events. Drivers may manually trigger events, and users may request video clips based on time and vehicle references.

EROAD Dashcams start operating on vehicle ignition. The device starts continuously recording to internal memory, but when an 'event' occurs, the 10-second periods before and after the event are bundled into a 20s clip and uploaded to the cloud via cellular network.

The Replay Clips page is a filterable list of all clips captured and sent to your account. The initial view shows all clips from the current week. For older clips, use the date picker to re-set the clip range. You can click on a clip to enter Clip View.

  • Overspeed: Exceeding the road's posted speed limit
  • Following distance: The estimated distance between the vehicle and the vehicle ahead is within a recommended distance for the current speed.
  • Forward collision warning: The vehicle is closing in on another vehicle or obstacle directly ahead
  • Proximity alert: The vehicle is closing in on a pedestrian, cyclist or obstacle to the side of the vehicle.
  • Mobile phone usage: The driver appears to be handling a device while driving.
  • No seat belt: The driver appears to not have their seatbelt correctly applied.
  • Fatigue: The driver appears to be experiencing eye closures
  • Smoking: The driver appears to be smoking or vaping.
  • Distracted driving: The driver appears to be looking away from the road for a sustained period while the vehicle is moving
  • Yawning: The driver's mouth appears open while the eyes squint for a second.
  • No driver detected: The driver facing lens appears to be covered or obscured.

(Clarity Edge Fatigue uses Infra-red ability to see in the dark, and through sunglasses.)

Notes:

  • The optional fatigue camera takes over observing distraction and yawning events from the Clarity Edge main camera. The Fatigue camera can detect blinking/eye closure through sunglasses.

  • These detections are all individually enabled or disabled, according to your company's preferences, and may be triggered by approved or benign actions. All events are subject to review by an approved manager.

  • The initial view of Replay Clips shows all clips from the current week. For older clips, use the date picker to re-set the clip range.
Click a clip's line to enter Event View. 

Filters

  • Date: Used to set the date range for targeted clips.
  • Tags: Each clip will have one or more tags based on manually assigned, sensor triggered, or AI-assigned events.
  • Vehicles: Select vehicles by registration that have events logged against them.
  • Drivers: Select specific drivers that have events logged against them.
  • Status: Select the status type with which reviewers have tagged events. You can also change the status of a clip under its "..." menu.
  • Event types: Check the specific type of event(s) you which to list.
  • Groups/fleets: Select the different groups/fleets in which you've allocated vehicles.
Notes
  • De-selecting all checkboxes in the filter list includes drivers that are not logged in.
  • Selecting all filters displays videos that have any combination of drivers and vehicles selected. 
  • Some combinations may not list results: try less restrictive settings.

Request status

A video’s request status is indicated with a colored icon in its own column.
 
Pending: The video was requested, and will be/is being uploaded to MyEROAD when the dashcam is in coverage.
To review: The video is available for review, annotation, and download. 
Reviewed: The requested video has been retrieved and reviewed. Click into the video to download it to your local machine.
Pending processing: The requested video is pending and should be available soon.
Failed, video overwritten: The requested video has been overwritten by the time of the request.
Failed, Error processing: A requested video failed to upload, due to an unexpected error.

More (...) Status assignment

Each clip has a vertical 'more' ellipsis "..." on the right, allowing you to assign each clip a collection of statuses. 

Clip status is provided as a toolset companies may use in making their own incident response criteria. These statuses aren't required by law, nor have any legal standing unto themselves. With the one exception of 'Mark as Restricted', they're there to assist in categorising and sorting your clips; nothing more.

Bulk Actions

Each Replay row begins with a checkbox. Selecting multiple checkboxes allows you to tag multiple clips with a new status using the Bulk actions button.

The list header also has a checkbox to auto-select downloaded, viewable clips on that page. Click to Page select listed clips.

Note: The Page select checkbox only affects the currently-viewed list. Navigating to following or previous pages deselects all checkboxes. Before navigating away from selected clips, ensure you perform your Bulk action.

Mark as Restricted

Almost inevitably, the dashcam will record an event that:

  1. contains graphic, mortal imagery, which may impact on the mental wellbeing of people unprepared to view these events, or;

  2. contains legally or ethically confidential material, that requires authoritative oversight before being released to a wider audience.

Anyone with Replay permissions may mark a video clip as Restricted. Once marked, only Dashcam Fleet Managers may view the clip, or unrestrict it within the event view.

Request video

You may request a clip from a video-enabled Dashcam's memory, whether the requested period contains an event or not.

Clips may be successfully uploaded if:

  • the Dashcam was on to record the requested period.

  • the requested period has not already overwritten the dashcam's SD card memory.

  • the Dashcam wasn't re-provisioned/ re-assigned to a new vehicle during the requested period.

Hyperlapse video

Hyperlapsed video compresses and speeds up longer duration video clips, allowing Dashcam Safety and Fleet managers to review long driving segments while keeping data costs down.

Hyperlapse videos are compressed on the Clarity unit on-request, so upload times are likely to take longer to push to Replay.

Currently, Hyperlapse is not supported for customers on the Clarity Get plan.

  1. Click Request video. A modal window pops up.

  2. Fill in/ select the appropriate details.

  3. Select the length/ quality of your clip. If video was captured within 6 hours of your selected time, it will appear in the timeline.

  • Click Request Video.

When the selected vehicle's Dashcam is both on and in good coverage, the requested period will be available in Replay within 10 minutes of the request.

To request a video from a specific place

  1. On the main Activity page, select a dashcam-equipped vehicle from the map or from the list of vehicles
  2. Click the History tab
  3. Click the date field to choose the date
    NOTE: Selecting Date and time picker allows you to narrow the displayed trips by time of day.
  4. Click the trip segment to display all vehicle activity on the map within that time frame. The vehicle path will change from solidly blue to a line of arrows

  5. Zoom into the vehicle route and click an arrow that corresponds to the vehicle position you would like to review
  6. Click Request video
  7. Verify or change the details of your request and select your preferred video length
  8. Click Request video.You will receive an email as soon as the video is available
Follow the link in your email or navigate to Replay > Select events > Requested videos to see your video.

Export

Export captures the current Replay clips listing into a CSV file for use with spreadsheet applications. Data listed includes:

  • Driver name
  • Vehicle Plate
  • Display Name
  • Date Timestamp
  • Event Type
  • G Force
  • Requested By
  • Incident
  • Status

At the bottom of the Replay clips list you can change how many listed events can appear on a page.
