Take a Rest Break

As a driver you may treat any time during your work day, when you are not working or driving, as rest or break time.

If Voice/Sound is activated on your mobile device, you will be alerted:

  • 30mins away from rest due
  • 15mins away from rest due
  • 5mins away from rest due.

When taking a rest, enter the start of your rest break in your logbook:

  1. Click the 'Take a Rest' button

    Take a Rest

  2. Allow the device to retrieve Start Date, Start Time and Location in the confirmation screen automatically, or manually enter the correct location.

  3. Click Confirm.
The status panel will change colour to amber to indicate that you are in Rest mode.

When finishing your break and going back to work, enter the end of your rest break in your logbook:

  1. Click the 'Finish Rest' button.

    finish rest

  2. Allow the device to retrieve End Date, End Time and Location in the confirmation screen automatically, or manually enter the correct location.
  3. Click Confirm.

A rest will only be valid and recorded if it is at least 30 minutes in duration.  If it is shorter than 30 minutes, the rest will be reverted back to Work (refer section 2 Land Transport Act definition of Rest Time).

NOTE: If you have forgotten to enter the start of a rest break, click 'Take a Rest' any time before finishing your break and manually adjust Start Date and/or Start Time in the confirmation screen. Similarly, if you have forgotten to enter the end of a rest break, click 'Finish Rest' and manually adjust End Date and/or End Time in the confirmation screen. In both cases, the system will record that a manual rest break has been entered.
