Geofences Overview

Geofences in MyEROAD enable you to report on vehicle activity in geographic areas that are of interest to your business.

Geofences can help you to better understand your fleets’ utilisation, measure time spent in MyEROAD, monitor time on the road, ensure safe speeds are maintained in high risk locations e.g., school zones and high crash areas, and help you fine-tune your off-road claims.

You can draw geofences on maps in:

  • Activity / Geofences
  • Reports / Daily Activity
  • Administration / Geofences

You can monitor your vehicles’ geofence visits in:

  • Reports / Geofence Activity with Aux Inputs
  • Reports / Daily Acitivity
  • Reports / Fleet Summary

TIP: A geofence should be at least 250 metres or 820 feet in diameter to be big enough for EROAD hardware units to detect activity in the geofence. The maximum size of a geofence is 25 square kilometres.

NOTE: MyEROAD users with only the basic role can view but not create, edit or remove geofences. Some Unit Managers might not have access to the Geofence tab if the Allow Geofence Access checkbox under Roles and Permissions is disabled.
